English: The old stone tower in Touro Park, Newport, Rhode Island, circa 1894. Quote from original caption: “The most casual study of the photograph leads one to wonder why, if the tower was built for military purposes, the large arches were left open at its base”… (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Is it a Templar tower?  No, I don’t think so.  And this chap gets it right the first time when he shows a similar 17th century windmill in England.  Let me assure you that it looks nothing like the “Church of the Holy Spectre” (he meant Sepulchre) in Cambridge which does go back to the early middle ages, pre-dates the Templars but has nothing in common with the Newport Tower.   As for it being built by the Chinese – let me just go away and laugh for a while.
