Templars versus Moors – excellent re-enactment in Portugal

This week I spent an excellent night at a Templar re-enactment in the Portuguese town of Santa Maria da Feira.  You can see the website for the week long series of events and festivities here.

The plays put on in front of the castle in the dead of night and the huge battle scene between Templars and Moors with horses, camels, real weapons and lots of fire happens in the small hours of the morning.

The whole town is closed off and there’s a six or seven Euro charge to enter the ‘zone’.   But it’s worth it.  You will have missed this year’s event but it’s on every year – I believe this is year five and it’s getting better each time.  Book now for next year to avoid disappointment!

Here are some pictures I took of this incredible night:

  1. You’re so awesome! I do not think I’ve read anything like that before.
So good to discover somebody with a few original thoughts on this
subject matter. Seriously.. many thanks for starting this up.
This site is something that’s needed on the web, someone with some originality!
