Laughing at the Middle Ages


Plenty of comedians have found the medieval period an era that is both engaging but also very funny.  I was reminded today of the Killer Rabbit sketch in Monty Python’s Holy Grail and thought I’d share some of these examples of mirth at the expense of heroic knights and damsels in distress.

Here is the Killer Rabbit sketch from Monty Python – mocking the idea of the dragon that needs to be slayed only in this case, it’s a bunny that must be overcome.
