World Without End – great medieval TV series!

Hopefully you all enjoyed the TV serialization of Pillars of the Earth – now, inevitably, comes the sequel World Without End

Ken Follett is a great story teller and while some purists have been upset by the twisting of historical fact, I’m sympathetic to Follett’s over-arching desire to tell a good yarn.

He’s a purveyor of top quality fiction more than anything else. If it results in people wanting to know more about the period – then that’s a good thing of course. I’d be delighted if some of those people made their way to this blog.

“Pillars” was based in the early 12th century during the civil war between King Stephen and the Empress Matilda, daughter of the previous English king, Henry I. This takes us forward a century to 1327. I’m not going to indulge in any plot spoilers but the trailer is below for you to view.

From the Templar point of view, Pillars was set at the start of the Templar era while World is set ten years after the Templars had been rounded up and arrested.
